The Church With
Open Doors
In 1846, the Presbyterian Church in Galena on North Bench Street moved away from the Westminster Standards toward a more “progressive” view of God & His Word. Unwilling to compromise, eleven members subsequently moved south down Bench Street to try and confess their biblical faith and hold true to their Reformed & Evangelical convictions. They started the “South Presbyterian Church.” The name is still engraved in the stone on the building outside.
Our Church began as a non-denominational church plant, beginning to worship in the South Presbyterian Church building together in September 2020. Honoring that original faithful group of Bible-loving, Christ-Exalting, Reformed Christians who were unwilling to compromise biblical truth, we took the name, New South Church. May God grant us the boldness and confidence to stand firm in a day and age where truth is relative, up is down, and right is wrong.
Our Service
10:00 AM Service
Each week we meet to worship God together, confess our sins, hear His Word, and feast at His table. We pray, read scripture, sing psalms and hymns, hear the Word preached, and partake of weekly communion. Our service follows a five-fold pattern found in Scripture: Call to Worship, Cleansing, Consecration, Communion, and Commissioning.
